Morning after breakfast sightseeing of . Hemis Gompa, Thiksey Gompa and Shey Palace. Hemis is one of the largest and wealthiest monasteries in Ladakh and houses about 150 monks; it also stages the annual Hemis festival. On the way back to Leh, visit the superbly situated, 16th century, Thiksey Gompa, which is perched on a hill top. Last stop is the ruined SheyPalace, once the summer palace of the pre-Tibetan kings. The palace monastery houses a large, bronze, blue haired Buddha statue. Later drive back to Hotel for overnight stay.
Full day excursion to Alchi and Likir Gompas, Alchi is about 65 kms from Leh situated in the vicinity of Saspol on the left side of Leh-Srinagar road acrossIndusRiver. Alchi is very famous for its wall paintings. One must take a torch to see the paintings in dark rooms, as there is no light. Likir Gompa lies on the right side of Leh-Srinagar road about 4 kms from the main road and is famous for numerous Thankas. Dinner overnight hotel.
After early breakfast drive to Spituk and after visiting Spituk Gompa start trekking along the Indus Riveron a fairly easy trek to Zinchen will be covered in about 4 hrs. Meals and overnight in tents at Zinchen.
Trek to Rumbak, which again is a gradual trek and will be covered in about 4 hrs. Meals and overnight in tents at Rumbak.
Track follows the beautiful gentle sloping valley and then a very steep ascend to Stok-la (4900 Mts.) descend to meet the river coming from the Stok Khangri massif and then trek to Mankarmo which is a shepherd village with 3 to 4 houses. The total distance will be covered in about 6 hrs. Dinner overnight at Mankarmo in tents.
Trek to Lharsi (4800 Mts.) via Yarlus. The first few kms are of gradual walk then the trial is ascending up to Lharsi. The total distance will be covered in about 4 hrs. Lharsi is the base of Stok Khangri Peaks. Dinner overnight at Lharsi in tents.
